I must wonder if, after looking at these illustrations, anyone really changed his mind about how modern can Eminescu be after all. Rather bold idea to mix abstract expressionist illustrations with poems by Eminescu. Fortunately, some of the texts are complicated enough to determine you to make connections with some of these uncompromisingly modern drawings... anyway, most of the poems here are high-quality Eminescu, the audio-book is top-notch and Cartarescu is spot on. Yeah, M.C. cannot help but view Eminescu from a decidedly postmodernist perspective, but his foreword is legit (good news for people who hated M.C. after writing that highly controversial text from Dilema). This is one of the few good things that have happened lately in the promotion and reception of Eminescu, a poet (THE poet) that, for many people, sounds too much like school and horrible exams to be able to actually enjoy and understand him (in a way that is not copy-pasted from the common places of school-approved criticism).… (plus d'informations)
