This story continues where New Culture, New Year, New Love left off and we see how Andy and Trent continue their first encounter.

A year later they're still together and when Andy has to make a professional choice about moving to Africa, it becomes obvious that the two men mean much more to each other than they suspected.

I liked how this story completed the picture, something I had missed at the end of the first book.

This story takes a very interesting look at the developing feelings between a rich Lord (Gerard) and a poor servant's son (Mattie) over the years that they know each other. The relationship that builds is very tentative, because practically non-existent except for a few encounters over the years as they grow up. But the underlying longing from Gerard's point of view was palpable.

I enjoyed following his growing realization that he wanted more from Mattie, I felt for them both as they struggled with how to make things work. The ending gave me a lot of hope - mainly for a sequel. It would be great to see these two characters attempt to make a life for themselves in whatever slightly less restricted area than late 1800s England (my estimate) they end up in.… (plus d'informations)

Appearances can be deceiving, and in this story, they deceived me more than once. The back-and-forth between the two main characters is fascinating, and they had not only each other fooled, but me as well. And I thought I was prepared!

Neil seems to be a harmless British tourist in the US. he ends up in a pool bar, and thinks he can show poolshark Paul what's what. And he does. Sort of. Except then said poolshark turns the tables on him, so to speak, which made me grin.

The tension between these two men was great, and even though it's very clear they're playing for professional purposes and pride, the underlying personal "battle" is just as fascinating.

If you like stories with some tongue-in-cheek humor, if you enjoy reading about the "chase" and like a slow burning romance, and if you're looking for a short read that is as clever as it is amusing, you will probably like this short story.
