It is amazing how 'their outrages' are balanced by 'our understandable over reaction'. British soldiers bad behaviour is both 'understood' and buried. One unpopular figure is charged with breaking army rules but the Geneva Convention is quietly forgotten: it isn't there to judge Allied activities, only the 'enemy's'.
Thousands of people, mostly African, but including colonists, died - and for what? The belief that white men were superior to black; that increased efficiency of land use was the be all and end all of philosophy and that Christianity must prevail, if not by conviction, then by the gun.
