Idan Ben-Barak is an author. His first book, Small Wonders: how microbes rule our world, won the 2010 American Association for the Advancement of Science/Subaru SB&F (Science Books and Films) Prize for Excellence in Science Books, Young Adult category. His book, Why Aren't We Dead Yet, made the afficher plus Bragg UNSW Press Prize for Science Writing 2015 shortlist. Do Not Lick this Book was published in May 2017. This was my most popular read-aloud when I did a picture book club at my kids' elementary school. A funny & interactive journey into the life of Min the microbe.

Once again, Idan Ben-Barak (Do Not Lick This Book; There's A Skeleton Inside You) breaks down a huge concept in a manageable way. This time, it's the evolution of all life forms. And what is life? "Life is the way that some things make more things that are a lot like themselves but sometimes a little bit different." And how did it start? We don't know exactly where or how, but we know there were elements, which joined together to form molecules, which "flowed together to form small bubbles," until one day "a very clever little bubble" figured out how to take more molecules and make a copy of itself, "and each was a little bit different." After a while (asterisk: "literally billions of years"), there were many kinds of things, each a Little Bit Different, culminating in a glorious portrait double gatefold of "all of us," with the bubble at the bottom and large mammals at the top. (This HAS to be a poster!) There is no back matter, but that lack doesn't detract from this beautiful, informative book.… (plus d'informations)
