The main problem with this book is the author's misguided attempt to translate a very personal friendship into a story for mass consumption. Everyone has had a friendship or relationship that has moments in it that defy description; something that is so funny or personal that it only amuses those involved. Those moments can be summed up by, "You had to be there." I appreciate the attempt to capture a friendship that meant so much to the author, but it is not done in a manner that allows the reader to join in on the journey. We are left outside and as a result, we end up judging the behavior of these women instead of experiencing life with them. I wish that I enjoyed this book more.… (plus d'informations)

I received a copy of this book from the Early Reviewers group. Back in 2010......... It's taken me this long to make the choice to NOT finish reading this book. It's sad, it's too close to own life story, and I just can't emotionally remove myself out of the story.

Excellent writing, excellent characters, realistic situations and characters all add up to 4 stars.

Both woman, without a doubt , carried heavy loads of past & present griefs. Their solution was to make it all about "me, me, me" which made for pretty depressing reading. The author's original plan to form this "Women on the Way" was a great opportunity for personal growth for everyone but it really ended up being nothing more than an opportunity for these 2 way "cooler" women to run down the remaining group members. Sad.… (plus d'informations)
