While I learned a bit about Oak Ridge, I wouldn’t say this was a can’t-miss novel. The characters were pretty flat, and I feel that it focused too much on the drab love stories than the issues at hand.

Easy and enjoyable read. I enjoyed learning about the work at Oak ridge and the secrecy of creating the atomic bomb while following the lives of several very different characters. I appreciate seeing the difference in the lives between the white and black characters and it helps give a little understanding of how events unfolded to set up future generations activism. I also enjoyed the historical pictures which helped bring even more life into the story. Also I enjoyed that the ending wasn't a stereotypical feel good fairy tale ending but a much more realistic and lifelike outcome for the characters… (plus d'informations)

Narrated by Ex Sands one of my favorite narrators.
This was a story of women working on the Manhattan Project, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee in the 1940’s. The story followed two women and two men and their everyday lives and what they went through. This was loosely based on historical facts but the story was good. I enjoyed it and want to read more on the subject.

I love books about Appalachia and this one did not disappoint. The Ballad of Laurel Springs is well-written, with very good character development and an intriguing storyline. The story unfolds through the viewpoints of many different perspectives across multiple generations. A fantastic read!
