William A. Barry, SJ, devoted his life to the spiritual nurturing of others through various roles in the Jesuit community and through his many decades as a spiritual director and retreat leader. His many books, including A Friendship Like No Other and An Invitation to Love, have helped people pray, afficher plus learn about faith, and deepen their friendship with God. William Barry leads us beyond the facts of history to an encounter with the risen Jesus, sharing both his own experience of prayer as well as the stories and accounts of other contemporary Christians who have come to know the risen Lord. He guides us in a prayerful dialog that bridges the gap between the Jesus of history and the Jesus we experience in faith.
the author is convinced that we encounter God in a mysterious way and thar God wants a personal relationship with each one of us. Helping people pay attention to these encounters is the purpose of this book.
Barry opens up the issue of discernment in the church in order to help people bring their actual experience of God to bear not only on their own spiritual lives, but on the whole Christian community.
