Courte biographie
Nancy Barr, Associate Curator for the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), will discuss the history of photographic practice in Detroit beginning with work by Charles Sheeler in 1927 to the present day, including the work of Andrew Moore, Scott Hocking, Corine Vermeulen among others, and examine the process and precedents for establishing an urban iconography in Detroit.

Barr is a specialist in modernist and contemporary photography. A native of Detroit, Michigan, she earned degrees in photography and art history from the College for Creative Studies, Detroit, and Wayne State University, Detroit. Barr worked with collections at Wayne State University and the Detroit Historical Museum before joining the curatorial staff at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) in the department of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs in 1994. She has served on the faculties at the College for Creative Studies, Detroit, and the University of Michigan, Dearborn. As an associate curator at the Detroit Institute of Arts, she has organized more than 25 exhibitions of photography for the DIA and is the curator of the current exhibition Detroit Revealed: Photographs, 2000-2010.

Final in the series of three books set in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (based in Escanaba). Newspaperwoman Robin Hamilton, with the help of two policemen from Chicago, finally finds out why her cop fiance was killed in Illinois, and the connection to her home town. A new love interest has developed as well; as she makes plans to move away once again.
