A very well made series; we watched it, one episode most weeks, over the course of a year. The TV Father Brown does not look as I imaged GK Chesterton's creation on which he is based, but he has the same characteristics of wisdom, insight, courage and a profound faith.

While the overall plots are similar (Father Brown unravels a local crime, often disagreeing with the police investigations) the settings are all different, and while some are tense, there's almost no gore. I'm not usually a fan of crime films, but liked these very much, on the whole. Set in the 1950s in a small village, there's a lot of good interplay of characters alongside the main plot, and a few mildly humorous asides.

Recommended for older teens and adults who like light-weight crime series.
