It's no surprise that we often repeat the mistakes with our children our parents made with us. Professor Chandra is no exception. Working as an academic in the field of economics he is a snob, but acutely sensitive. He doesn't understand why his wife asked for a divorce, or why his 3 children have little to do with him.

It's not until he gets hit by a bicyclist and suffers a heart-attack that he is pushed to take stock of his life. And remember how his father hurt him physically and mentally, how he continued that legacy with his children especially with his son, Sunil. How he chose to give his work more time and attention than his family. He thought he needed the accolades of fame and financial success but now he realizes what's more important.

A good, sad and also fun read about self-discovery at the age of 70. How life changes can make a big difference in our outlook and relationships.

Professor Chandra, an economist of the Chicago school, faces up to his choices and his family. It's often funny, and I felt for the main character, his ex-wife and their children, but the resolution is a little too easily come by.

This book was uneven. I was ready to quit until I got to chapter 5. Family dynamics....

While the summary seemed interesting the story failed to engage. Characters are mediocre, plot is predictable and dialog repetitive. I'd hoped for more but after reading nearly half it wasn't going anywhere. DNF!
