Ever since the incident, and since her father left, Olive has looked at the world differently and has not liked what she saw, especially about herself. Cutting herself off from her former friends, from Alison, and throwing out everything about her old self, her old life, she has replaced it all. From new friends to a new wardrobe and a bedroom makeover, she has finally found a new version of herself that she is happy with. Unfortunately so has someone else.

When she first discovered the shapeshifter she feared no one would believe her until it was too late. But when her life was shattered and her perceptions changed she realised that believing in shapshifters was something only a crazy girl would do, and she was not crazy, at least not anymore. So when the so called 'shapeshifter' befriends her she no longer holds the crazy fear of losing her identity or her life. However she may be crazy not to fear.

Shift mingles together all aspects of friendship from loyalty, acceptance and encouragement to misunderstandings, manipulation and malaise. Not all friendships are healthy, and while some are only fleeting and created out of need, others can be down right dangerous. However it is a true friend who will stand by you when you need them most. A genuinely engaging story that surprises and leaves you wondering.

We got this book at my daughter's school's book fair. It was a cute story and my daughter seemed to enjoy it. A cute take on fairies.

Esther has been one of the Special Ones for almost two years. This means she is viewed as a spiritual guide, an immortal being who lives a simple life in an isolated farmhouse and online chats with her eager followers. She is always watched by a mysterious he, the leader they have never met, who decides if they are living up to their true Special potential. If they aren't, they are renewed, and never return to the farmhouse again.

Like another recent read, Hex, this book is fantastically strange and so unique. I love reading a book where I feel like I've never read anything like it before. This book is so mysterious, which meant I could not put it down. I had to know what was going to happen next.

Towards the middle of the book, I felt like things started to move maybe a little too fast. This is one of those books I think could have been a little longer to flesh out things even more.

This is a quick, gripping read that will keep you engaged and constantly guessing.

Anya has made a concerted effort to ditch her old super smart nerd image from primary school, by wearing make up, straightening her hair and deliberately getting low marks on all her Maths tests. She even has a boyfriend Ethan who she has styled, and despite the issues with her parents' divorce, seems to be doing ok. Then, Ethan dumps her right before the school social, her mum refuses to buy a super cool padded bra for her and she accidentally shoplifts some mascara. Anya then starts to make some bad choices that all come to a head.
Lots of talk about bras and breasts but nothing sleazy and probably pretty realistic. A book about consequences of your actions and being true to yourself.
