Malcolm X was born on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. He had five brothers and sisters. His parents names were Louise and Earl Little. Because of Malcolm's fathers advocacy for Garvey's movement that believed all afro Americans move back to Africa , his family was terrorized by members of the Klu Klux Klan. This caused the family to relocate to Lansing Michigan. This did not help them, the Klan followed them and ended up killing the father making it look like a suicide. The mother ended up being placed in a mental hospital. All of these tragic events made Malcolm X the Man that he became.
My view about this book: I love books that bring awareness to things that happened on the past. We can learn from this mans tragic life as well as the good Malcolm brought to this world.
My classroom extentions would be one: I would have my class research information concerning the Ku Klux Klan . This wpuld allow them to know what that group was/ is all about. After their researc I would have them make a pro and con list about Malcolm X . What benifits did Malcolm X's outlooks do in our nation. Do we still have racial issues in our country?
The second extention I would have my students do woild be create grops of two having each group come up with a list of reasons why they see it is imprtant to erase racism from our society. then as a class come together and discuss the importance of looking at the person not the color or anyother outward appereance .… (plus d'informations)
