Tied Up for Christmas by Desiree Holt - 4
Bree is a domme, hurt by a subs betrayal, she goes to a BDSM event out of town and finds herself drawn to a Dom. I'm not a big fan when authors claim their heroine is a domme but then make her submissive. If I ignore that, the dynamic between these two was good, given the abbreviated time.

I really enjoyed this book. In fact, it was the first book in a very long time I actually couldn't wait to get home from the day job to dive back into. Mostly, I know exactly where/how they're going to end - with this, I was on the edge of my seat.

At first, I didn't want to read/think about demons, thinking demon = bad/evil/wrong, but after reading some interviews with the author, who discussed how she sees daimons as more a paranormal creature that can be good OR evil, I thought I'd give it a try. I really liked it, as well as her vision of a world with vampires, were-creature, and fae living among humans.

The author gives the characters engaging voices, good use of humor and location, and I loved her strong, smart (yet appealingly flawed) heroes and heroines.

In the middle of the book it lost a little steam/power for me, despite a really sexy love scene between Rose and Gabriel. At the end, though they do desperately need each other, they battle the villains separately. I think I would have preferred that they take on the baddies while joined together in some way. And I was looking for another love scene at the end *whining.*

That said, I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Not all demons are scary. But some are. Especially the ones with two mouths and four arms.

This teaser plants the seed for an upcoming epic battle between the Caine brothers and an evil sorcerer who has opened a portal to the Chaos Plane to bring over more baddies to fight on his side.

Gregor Caine and his brothers are tribreds: part human, part demon, part fae, all sexy. There is much we don't yet know, such as the ultimate goal of the bad guy (besides just being a bad guy). So it's not really a stand-alone story - there's no conflict that is resolved here, but it's a great way to dip a toe in (about 60 pages?) and see if you like this paranormal universe and this author's writing style. (I do!)

Really, what's not to love about a part-demon, part-fae guy like Justin who wears long dreadlocks, tasteless Hawaiian shirts and loves to surf?
