Reading a YAish spicy romance is a bit creepy but the characters are interesting. Hope we meet Jack, Mason and Emma as adults one day.

First off, the instalove here is just not believable. Then, the reveal 2/3 into the book upends what you’ve read so far so much that you almost need to go back to the beginning to start over.

The second book (by Layla Frost) is a trigger-warnings-needed shit show.

Very disappointing duology.

This is the second book in the Carpino series from Brynne Asher. Unfortunately, I started reading this series out of order. The author likes to throw in just a little bit of suspenseful content so in this book, we have someone leaving unsigned packages saying they are going to harm the heroine. The suspense is mild though. The romance is between Tony Carpino and Leigh who has known Tony and his family since she was a child. She is best friends with Gabby Carpino who is the heroine in book 1. Leigh is getting a divorce from her abusive husband. Tony thought he had missed his chance at Leigh. He's not going to waste this opportunity to make Leigh his and show her a Beautiful Life.

I enjoyed this book. I like the dynamic of the Carpino family. Tony was a swoony hero. Leigh's hesitations were understandable. The book was and easy read.

I read this book first not knowing that it is actually the last book in the series. Rats! That being said, I have mixed feelings about this book. First of all, this was far too insta for me. Maybe not insta insta love, but the relationship really moves fast. The Hero, Cam, is a little too alpha for my taste. He likes to make demands of the heroine and she pretty much folds every time albeit with a little sass, but still. This book is steamier than I've been reading in a while. Once they get to it, we get to be in on it plenty. Now that I've listed my reasons for mixed feeling, I also have to say that I was pretty much glued to this book for the several days it took me to read it which is a testament to the writing style if nothing else. What I think I need to do is go back and read the first books and see if this is still the case and if I have the same kinds of feelings for those books. I'm definitely interested in this author, but time will tell if she remains interesting.… (plus d'informations)
