Wade Allison

This is a very timely book by Professor Allison, who puts the whole issue of nuclear radiation in perspective. While some chapters are not easy going for those readers without much scientific knowledge, he has attempted to simplify some of the background information without dumbing it down. He addresses the modern propensity to be risk averse, and how the media, governments and organisations are poor at a realistic risk assessment, As he says of his conclusion:
'It is based on recent scientific data that is now established, and it brings good news – but are the people of the world ready to re-examine past assumptions in the light of current science? It is important that they do, because, without nuclear energy, the future for mankind looks bleak.'
Given the debate raging about climate change, and how to provide the world with energy which will not exacerbate global warming, all interested parties should read this very thought provoking book.… (plus d'informations)
