I thought this story was ok. There are some elements that didn't work for me: Wulf's acceptance of Luc's darker side, especially regarding Senthys, without really working through it; Wulf and Luc's love in general (aside from the sex, I couldn't tell why they loved each other - the last time they saw each other Wulf was barely an adult, and suddenly twenty years later they are in love); and sometimes the dialogue was just too sugary (an abundance of "I love you" and "don't leave me" and "I cherish you," etc. that didn't align with their personalities, especially Luc's). I will say though that I never had a taste for champagne, but I quite like the use for it at the end of the book. :-)… (plus d'informations)

I was blown away by the depth of this world and the characters inhabiting it. You could feel Luc and Izzorah's emotions pouring off the page. I swear I could feel the cool breezes on my skin. Don't let the book size deter you - it's an epic tale well worth the read. I rated it at a 4 simply because there were times when it felt like things were moving very slowly, and I had to push through. That said the descriptions and plot are wonderful, and make you want to keep reading until the end. (less)

A powerful read that at times moves a little slowly, and has it's light moments. I really love the main cast, although I think Six and not Pietas is probably my favorite. The introduction definitely hooked me more than the synopsis.

Note to readers: This edition is an revised and updated version of the original book, minus the erotica.

At the Mercy of Her Pleasure is a story filled with vice and a political empire whose leader, the Conqueror, has no scruples about its application for her own benefit. Add to the mix slavery, kidnapping, blackmail, behaviour enhancing/suppressing drugs and NarrAy Jorlan, one very tempting, genetically engineered human female soldier, and the Antonello brothers, Senth and Khyff, have a lot to contend with to save each other from a life of slavery and submission.

This story focuses on Senth who is thrown in the deep end by his master, the Harbinger, and forced to use his skills as a thief to gain his brother's freedom from sexual slavery. I don't usually like teenaged heroes but I really liked that Senth, who is half-human, was young and inexperienced but fiercely supportive of his older, fully human brother.

The secondary characters also foreshadow intrigue and complexity but could perhaps have been fleshed out more, along with the world building. There was enough detail to keep me interested and happy to continue reading, though, and the enigma of Luc Saint-Cyr (the Harbinger) was fascinating. I hope we'll get to read more about him in this series.

There are some very juicy science fiction tidbits for the taking in this book and I was hoping for more explanation and exploration of these aspects of the plot, but it wasn't to be in this relatively short novel.

I also thought the key action near the end of the book took place quickly and too easily. There was little opposition or struggle, but I was very pleased there's an HFN ending promising more, so I'm looking forward to Khyff's story in the continuing adventures of the Antonello brothers in Book 2, For Women Only. Book 3, Crystal Clear Truth is also coming soon.

Overall, At the Mercy of Her Pleasure was a quick and enjoyable read for this Science Fiction Romance fanatic, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves science fiction and sweet romance.
