He is the winner of six first-place honors in the annual National Recreation Trails photo contests. He has written about Florida swamps, black bears, and other topics for magazines such as Wildlife Conservation, Sierra, American Forests, and Florida Wildlife. A former associate editor of Florida Wildlife magazine, he won a national writing award for a series of articles about the Everglades. His first book was Waters Less Traveled: Exploring Florida’s Big Bend Coast.

This is a breezy and fun book that explores the history of Florida's tourist attractions, both those now defunct and those still operating. Illustrated with colorful vintage postcards and travel brochures, author Doug Alderson evokes a strong dose of nostalgia for the simpler times of Florida's heyday of roadside attractions. I had assumed that nearly all of these sights had been put out of business by the behemoth Disney World, but dozens indeed have survived, with some converted into state parks, others modified to accommodate changing tourist tastes. As more than half the book is devoted to current attractions, with a map and driving directions to each, this makes a fine guidebook for a nostalgic Florida road trip.… (plus d'informations)

Better for advanced users who have actually done some kaying. Requires that you have basic knowlege of what you already need and focusus ONLY on stroke techniques.
