A terrific book with excellent photos. One of the best books I have read in any genre. You don't need to be a naval history buff to enjoy or understand this book.

The photos are of high quality, and the text mildly informative, as we view the vessels that extended the power of the USA up to the Spanish-American War and slightly after. A good book for the model maker, and rather slight for the pre-Dreadnought naval war-gamer.
