The author has attempted to outline the history of the Mumbai's suburban railways - from the origins in 1853 to the present. He lists out each station on the line and gives a good description of the changes over time that have taken place. While the level of detail in the book is worth appreciating, an overall narrative is missing - what is the story here? Is the Mumbai suburban railways better or worse off because of these changes? How has passenger traffic increased over the years and how is the railways coping with it etc. are some of the questions that might have made this a more interesting book.
