31 Chapters from Prehistoric to 2000.
I love this book for the Art and the history behind the art , It has so much information on the history that it just brings the art to life. You could just sit and read this book for hours and still not loss any interest in it , It is an older edition but still very useful and wonderful to add to any art and history lovers shelf!
High quality images. Many architectural drawings provided insight to structures photographed. An overview of many religions, gods worshiped, and art produced. Timelines concluding each chapter related style/period, works of art, and cultural/historical developments; with time.
A paperback edition printed on a high quality glossy paper. It contains a lot of information on all major artists from the 14th. century until today. There are a myriad of color reproductions. Beside paintings this book addresses sculptures, architecture etc. I find analysis of artistic work shown in this book quite helpful.
