The book describes the origination of the first Art Theft/Crime department in the United States and the Detective (who recently passed) who created the department and his very stories of stolen Art, sculpture, icons or other art crimes. It is series of vignettes centered around Robert Volpe, it's all about Robert Volpe and totally centers around Robert Volpe. It's interesting, but it would have been more interesting if it more fully described his life other than as a police detective; we know nothing of him personally other than he love loves the limelight and the attention and we can surmise that he is self obsessed. The book was written by an art historian, Laurie Adams, but you could have fooled me. Its a good but not a great read.… (plus d'informations)
