THis book was ... so amazing. If you've never gone through the kind of grief Bee goes through in this book you might be a little questionable about why she did some of the things she did. But I understood so completely as I went through the same trauma and Abrams just really captured it all.

The family dynamics we so amazing ... I just loved this book.

I'll try to remember to come back and write this better right now I'm just so wrung out this is the best I could do.

What a delightful book this was! At first I thought it was just going to be another cutesy romance, but it was so much more. It dealt with identity, coming-of-age, loss, first love, family and charity work. Surprisingly, The Color Project made me laugh-out-loud and cry bucket loads. It was full of emotion and beautifully written, and I was invested 100% from the start,

Bee, the narrator, was funny and very relatable, although she did make some stupid choices. I never understood why she refused to tell Levi her real name. However, I loved her self-deprecating humour and her awkwardness, and I shared her insecurities and tears. The fact she also worked as a florist's assistance having just graduated from school, also made her interesting,

Then there was twenty-year-old, Levi. He was older than many of the males in YA novels but, I must say, he was definitely swoon-worthy. What a gorgeous young man he was. I think it would be impossible for any female not to fall in love with him. He was kind, selfless, saw Bee for who she was and ran his own charity - the Color Project. The romance that developed between he and Bee was just gorgeous. They had their struggles but I believed in them and wished them a happily-ever-after end.

The secondary characters were also great. They all played an important part in the book, supporting and loving both Levi and Bee. Bee's family was wonderful. I loved not only her parents, but also her older brother, Tom, and her two younger sisters, Astrid and Millie. It was heart-warming to see such a positive family relationship and their interactions were so touching and real. Eliza, Levi's mother, was a warm, welcoming and genuinely nice person as was Bee's boss, Tracy. Gretchen, Bee's best friend was terrific, as were Levi's friends. It was refreshing to have so many characters to like. In fact, the only person I wanted to slap was Levi's father, the 'villain' in the book.

Overall, a touching, emotional and moving story suitable for readers of all ages.

Bee's determined to keep her full name a secret, but when pushed by the guy she's fallen in love with as to why, her reasoning gets mushy and murky. Levi is almost too good to be true. He works as a mechanic in the evening, but his passion is The Color Project, something he got (in fact the only thing he wanted) in the divorce settlement when his dad dumped Mom and remarried. Levi is determined he'll do whatever possible to make this project so successful it is completely free from his father's clutches.
Bee, is semi-drifting when they meet, but is quickly as enamored of the project as anyone and feels a sense of comfort during her involvement. However, when her father is diagnosed with a scary illness, not even Levi and The Color Project can keep her on an even emotional keel. Watching what happens to Bee, Levi and the rest of Bee's family as the crisis grows, makes for a gripping read. There are a few spots where proofreading missed things and Bee's refusal to trust Levi near the end is a tiny bit annoying, but it's a very worthwhile read.

This book wasn't as raw as I expected it to be, but the story touched my heart. It was the perfect portrayal of family dynamics, first love, and grief. The romance was a little scattered and mushy, but the characters as individuals were great. Each one brought a unique presence to the story and I really enjoyed watching them grow throughout the book.

I think for me, my expectations were set a tad too high. The cover was gorgeous and the synopsis made me think I was going to ball my eyes out. I kind of wish those vibes came, but they didn't. It was more charming and witty and romantic... The emotional things just stirred the pot and brought everyone closer. It was a well wrote book with a unique premise. I look forward to watching this Author mature through storylines.… (plus d'informations)
