This book focuses more on the history of the Tower with the ghostly happenings just adding some flavor.
Whilst the historical facts are interesting there is nothing that you can't find on any of the many pages on the internet dedicated to telling the stories of the Tower's history. The 'Ghost' stories in the book feel very repetitive and at times the same story is related on more than one occasion as if there were multiple drafts of each and they mistakenly all got included in the final edition (throwing stones & poisoned eggs).
Needs a rewrite to tighten up the narrative and remove the repetition. One for the paranormal enthusiasts maybe but not a good historical document… (plus d'informations)

This book focuses more on the history of the Tower with the ghostly happenings just adding some flavor.
This book is a gem. I've read it countless times and will read it countless more. It unflinchingly follows England's tortures and executions through the ages while citing specific historical incidents where these devices and methods were used. Chock full of quotes from witnesses, I devour it in one sitting. I can't wait to get ahold of Abbott's other work.
