This is a collection of short stories all taking place during the Christmas season, from the 1860s through the late 1880s, in various locations throughout the Great Plains.

I really enjoyed all of the stories, but one of my favorites was Take Me Home by Tracey Bateman; a gentle romance about a first time teacher who feels like she is in over her head with her first teaching job; I loved the main characters, but it's the secondary characters that really made the story. I cannot really say why without giving away the story though, you will just have to read it for yourself.

Another favorite was A Christmas Gift of Love by Darlene Mindrup, about a 35 year old single woman coping with the death of her father, and wondering how she will be able to keep the family farm.

I also really enjoyed Christmas Cake by Janet Spaeth, a very sweet story about a newlywed couple's first Christmas together.

Scattered throughout the book were recipes related to some of the stories, I really enjoyed those too, especially those in the story God Jul by Tracie Peterson, about a Swedish family. ( )

These 9 short stories all take place in the open prairies of Minnesota, Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and Kansas in the late 1800's. You will weather winter storms, meet winter challenges on the prairie, and find joy and love during the Christmas Season. Although each story is short, they all seemed very complete and I didn't feel hurried through any of the stories. You will will find yourself enjoying some stories more than others, although I felt they were all worth reading. They were filled with warmth, inspiration and faith. A good book to sit by the fire, wrapped in a blanket, and enjoy during the Christmas season. ( )

A PRAIRIE CHRISTMAS COLLECTION: 9 HISTORICAL CHRISTMAS ROMANCES FROM AMERICA'S GREAT PLAINS by various authors(Tracie Peterson,Tracey Bateman,JoAnne A. Grote, Maryn Langer, Deborah Raney,Pamela Griffin, Darelene Mendrup, Janet Spaeth and Jill Stengl) is a wonderful inspirational Christmas romance. It is a reprint. It is a sweet romantic tales of days gone by and finding love.It is well written by all the authors. It has romance, faith, determination, courage, adventure, heartache, challenges, victories, sleigh rides, snowy nights, love, opening of hearts, hope and the desire to tame a wild land while trying to find love. All the characters are strong-willed and determined to survive the harsh land and struggles along the way. This is a beautiful Christmas story that show with courage, determination and faith love can find its true heart and survive. I would recommend this book especially if you enjoy sweet Christmas stories by various authors all in one book. This book was received for review from Net Galley and details can be found at Barbour Publishing and My Book Addiction and More. ( )
