I haven't had the opportunity to read any other biographies (or autobiographies) by the cast of this show. That said I found this to be a refreshing read from someone who seems to have come out of the experience with a good perspective of both her acting career and life in general. Alison Arngrim writes very matter-of-factly and laces her work with well placed humor. She covers nearly everything without being crass or over-exposing anyone. It certainly isn't your standard celebrity auto-biography. THANK GOODNESS.

This may well end up in my yearly top ten, especially as I kept laughing out loud while reading it. I've never met Ms. Arngrim (nor am I much of one to ever bother meeting celebrities) But if I had met her before this was published in a private mien, and I'm only going from what I read in the book, she may well have been someone I would have really enjoyed knowing - perhaps even to being a friend. She seems like a lot of fun.

Perhaps one day she'll write another book and we'll get to enjoy more of her literary talent. ( )

Wow, I really enjoyed that. When I picked it up, I thought it was only a bit of guilty pleasure that I may or may not finish, but Alison Arngrim had such fun stories and a great sense of humor, it was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Not all the stories were fun, and I learned about something I never knew existed-those horrible incest exception laws that organizations like PROTECT have fought to get removed from legislation. I really admire the actress and all the people involved in getting this law changed in California.
This was a great memoir. ( )

Before I start, just a tip - do yourself a favor and listen to the audiobook narrated by Alison! It adds so much to the story.

Alison tells her entire life story from her parent's history, through her life at home which is terrible to say the least, through her time at Little House and after. She continues telling the story of her friendship with her Little House husband and his subsequent death. She also discusses Michael Landon's death and the impact it had on her.

There are so many behind the scenes stories that any Little House on the Prairie fan will be in love. I found myself knowing exactly what episodes were being discussed and laughed when little tidbits of information were shared. I knew this book was going to be good but I was unprepared for how emotional and revealing it is. ( )

During one memorable summer vacation, after Jerry Springer my little sister and I made it a daily late night tradition of watching Little House on the Prairie. This is story of Nellie, the Prairie bitch, of the show.

The meat of the book is about her life on Little House of the Prairie and any fan would love that part. But the story really is a coming of age story .... at the age 40. It was then Alison realized she wouldn't grow out of the shadow of Nellie but Nellie was a part of her. ( )
