Ever since the death of his father, Fellworth Dolphin has slaved away as a waiter to support his miserly, cold-hearted mother. So, when she suddenly dies, Fellworth is shocked to discover she has left him a fortune. Somewhat confused, Fell teams up with a girl from work, Maggie, to investigate the source of the riches. But what they find instead is a closet full of skeletons. Is it really possible Fell's father was involved in a decades-old train robbery? And who is the mysterious woman in the portrait hidden in his mother's wardrobe? As Fell and Maggie poke around the village for answers, they find themselves on a surprise-filled path to danger and adventure - but all this good fortune could come to a sudden end if they don't stay one step ahead of a cunning killer.… (plus d'informations)

I already love M.C. Beaton but the cozy mystery love story was exceptional. To see two people who were already in love with each other fall in love with each other was quite enjoyable and not frustrating at all. I highly recommend this novella. ( )

This is a departure from MC Beaton's usual style. A quick, enjoyable read. ( )

I really appreciated this book. It reminded me of those movies when you know what the character is thinking, and you want to yell at the screen "Just say it! Tell her!!!" The mystery was as a mystery should be winding and unfolding with a few twists and turns- all over it was a quick fun read! ( )

I enjoyed the book overall but it ran a little slow due to detailing too many normal daily activities. I liked Maggie quite a bit and was annoyed at the obnoxious way Fell treated and thought of her much of the time. The author should have worked a little harder to make Fell a more likeable character. In the way that illiterate people become very cunning at covering up their disability, Mr Fellworth Dolphin, known as Fell, was still a virgin and kept it a dark secret.
