“Clouds” is a simple introduction to clouds. The story follows a little boy who is exploring the clouds in the sky. The book offers a variety of facts including the name of different types of clouds and the type of weather each cloud may indicate.

The book is very informational and simple to read. The illustrations are soft and inviting and compliment the soft nature of clouds. I like the fact that the book includes a fact page that reveals silly information like “a cloud can be as heavy as ten large elephants!” These facts can help students gain a better prospective of how big clouds actually are without touching one. Although there is barely a plot, “Clouds” is a good read for young and old readers.

Students could create a cloud by gluing cotton balls on a blue sheet of construction paper. Because younger students may not remember the cloud types, I would allow them to share their cloud pictures with the class. For older students, I would give them a worksheet and take them outside to watch the clouds. I would have them label the clouds using the guidelines from the book. ( )

Great for grades k-2. Tells about clouds. We could have the students make clouds using construction paper and cotton balls.
