My 11-year-old grandson has been obsessed by all things Titanic since he was about four. So, my spouse decided to get a couple of books about the Titanic for him for Christmas. She let me read this one first. It's not an adult book, but appropriate for kids. None-the-less, I found it rather fun. Ten-year-old George, and his eight-year-old sister, Phoebe, are on the Titanic's maiden voyage accompanied by their Aunt Daisy. Aunt Daisy had recently been widowed. It had been the dream of her late husband to make this trip, so Aunt Daisy decided to keep the tickets already bought and she took George and Phoebe along with her. George is known for getting into trouble, and he finds trouble a plenty on the ship. What's a 10-year-old to do but go exploring? Anyway, he does and makes friends with some immigrants in the lower decks, Marco and his kid, Enzo (or did I forget and it's the other way around?). Well, things go fine until they hit the ice berg and the ship begins to sink, but they all manage to find a way off and to safety, and later on, find themselves reconnected with Marco and Enzo. Pretty fun. I'll have to check with my grandson to see if they got the basic facts of the sinking, and lifeboat lowering, and so forth correctly. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

One night when George is exploring the ship hits an iceberg. He barely makes it up to his quarters before he learns that they will need to get up to the top deck.
When he and his Aunt discover his sister is missing, he comes to the conclusion that she must have followed him. They end up going and looking for her and get stranded in the bottom of the shop with those that are beneath their social class.
George eventually figures out a way to the top deck and they are safely shipped onto row boats. George however, because of his age is forced to stay behind on the sinking ship. His Aunt and sister head off to safety away from the sinking ship.
It isn’t until sometime later, once George is off the sinking ship, that he starts to piece all the events together. The one thing that he knows for certain is that he’s survived the sinking of the Titanic. ( )
