This was a great book of the bats from Appelt. The book teaches counting with colorful pictures and friendly counting. I would use this book when trying to get my children excited about counting. ( )

This is a fun counting book. Each year fifty-five bats make up the Bat Jamboree and all of the animals come to watch. The first bat sings, the second flats, the third one cha-cha-chas and it goes on until it reaches 55: the pyramid. It's finally over when the bat lady sings.

This would be a fun book to read about Halloween. I think that kids would really enjoy the story, while learning about numbers also.

After reading this story to a classroom, I would have students make their own bats and then they could act out the book with them. ( )
