It takes waaayy too long to get interesting. There are still issues for me with the ghosts, how they can do so many things and become so solid that people think they are normal. The last fourth of the book was better. ( ) Producer, Victoria McKinnon, is exhilarated that her wealthy brother Thomas is allowing her to produce Hamlet at his Thorpewold Castle in England. Victoria thinks a genuine old castle adds flavor to the staging of the Shakespearean masterpiece. However, Thomas failed to inform Victoria of a minor problem, Connor MacDougal, the grumpy resident ghost who not only opposes people especially women because he was betrayed by his wife when he was alive eight centuries ago; he also is irate that they plan to butcher the Bard. Victoria is not one to back down from a specter, but is outraged that her sibling failed to warn her. Still on with the show. ew writers if any can merge humor with the supernatural inside a star-crossed romance as well as the incomparable Lynn Kurland can consistently does. If you believe that just try this novel "Much Ado In The Moonlight", or Ms. Kurland's terrific time travel tales like "Dreams of Stardust"; you will be a fan after reading any of those. 3.5 stars. This is much more complex than your typical romance novel; it's not just two irritating people meeting each other, getting over their differences and falling in love. Somehow the author threw in (friendly) ghosts, time travel and Shakespeare too, and in general they all worked (assuming you can suspend disbelief). There was a bit too much recounting of how people felt, but otherwise, it was a fun romp. Victoria McKinnon, Thomas's sister, is a capable theatre director. When Thomas offers to let her stage "Hamlet" at his Scottish castle, she is suspicious but can't turn it down. When she arrives, she discovers that the nearby inn is home to three ghosts who are also her ancestors, and the castle is haunted by an angry and arrogant ghost, Connor MacDougal. She wins him over by offering him a part in her play. They fall in love, once Victoria realizes her star actor with whom she was infatuated is an egocentric jerk. When Victoria's grandmother disappears, she, Connor, and her sister travel back to Shakespeare's time to find her grandmother. That was their introduction to time travel. But it turns serious when Thomas reveals that his wife, Iolanthe, was also a ghost and he rescued her by going back in time before she was killed. Victoria tries the same thing with Connor, who throws her off his land but then follows her back to her own time. Slowly his "memory" of his life as a ghost returns, but now he is mortal. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Award-winning and USA Today bestselling author Lynn Kurland "consistently delivers the kind of stories readers dream about."* Now, she pens a wonderfully romantic tale about an eight-hundred-year-old ghost and the modern woman who turns his plans for a peaceful afterlife upside down... When Victoria McKinnon's brother offers to finance her production of Hamlet, she leaps at the chance. She can't imagine anything better than staging Shakespeare's masterpiece in an honest-to-goodness English castle. There's just one problem: the place is haunted by a grumpy, gorgeous Highland warrior who's furious that anyone dares to invade his home. Connor MacDougal has no intention of relinquishing his authority over Thorpewold castle to anyone, let alone a McKinnon. But when he catches a glimpse of the beautiful intruder, suddenly he can't help but wonder why it's taken eight hundred years into his afterlife to find the love of a lifetime... *The Oakland Press Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
