This book will make vegetarians of the intended audience faster than you can say "slaughterhouse". I give it a star for that alone. The other 1.5 stars come from the fact that the pigs all have pretty great names (Beryl, Amber, Ruby, Dew, Bert, Sissy, and Moonshine) and that Sam the Bear is hysterically funny in an incredibly dry way. Outside of that, I'm afraid that this story just doesn't hold up to my adult sensibilities. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Tired of being mistreated and cooped up, Beryl the piglet escapes her farm and meets a group of wild pigs, whose settlement splits up over the decision of whether to let her stay, and with her new "family" she sets out to find a new home. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

My boys could relate as we have raised pigs and they know the process of taking care of the herd.
The need for omniscient assistance outside the pig herd comes from accepting a bear, who can help, who knows, who leads.
A story about prejudice, fighting unnecessary rules, allowing differences, and acceptance. ( )
