This is the second police officer story that Ms. Rice has written. As with the first Alejandro "Alex" Cruz doesn't have any military experience but he would have made a wonderful officer and probably would have been in one of the special forces. Alex kind of reminds me of Leroy Jethro Gibbs. He has that all work no nonsense that Gibbs. Alex has a look and Gibbs has the head slap. He is all alpha male and caring leader. It was so much fun watching him fall into love with Caitlin.

Caitlin Summers is a young woman just coming into all the things that she has ever dreamed about. She has been in school for years working for a Phd in two majors. When she goes to the police station at the urging of her teacher she isn't ready for the effect that Alex has on her. Caitlin is a intelligent academic that is also caring, compassionate and more than just a little clumsy when she is nervous. There are several scenes where she dumps things in Alex's lap that a quite funny.

There is an underlying plot of a criminal that Alex wants but it is a minor story line and never over takes the love story. I would have liked to see a little more to this story line but it doesn't make the story any less fun.

Ms. Rice is a wonderful writer and she can write some really hot, steamy love scenes. If you like hot alpha males and the geeky woman that fall in with them you will like this story. ( )
