Fiction. Literature. Romance. HTML:

From the author of A Walk to Remember comes a moving tale of redemption and first love when a rebellious teenager decides to spend the summer with her estranged father in a North Carolina beach town.

Seventeen year old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church.

The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story of love on many levelsâ??first love, love between parents and children â?? that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that love can break our hearts . . . and heal them… (plus d'informations)

{my thoughts} - I must confess I had watched the movie before reading the book. The movie was okayish I suppose. But the book I know I probably say this a lot was a thousand times better. The imagery the descriptions and everything - I really enjoyed it, I even enjoyed the parts that had made me cry - yes I am admitting to crying from reading a book that was built so vividly on emotions. It was well written and most certainly a book that I wouldn't mind reading again sometime. I honestly don't remember much about the movie other then it has the same story line and plot as the book. The book was sensational because I am able to vividly remember what I had read. It is a book that is about forgiveness, faith in God, faith in others, the ability to trust things with work out, growing up when your not quite ready, excepting responsibility for your actions, understanding that not everything is about you and that in the end its important to have a peace of mind and know that you did the best you could with the life God had given you.

I could probably say this every time I write one of these and strongly believe it to be true the BOOK is ALMOST always BETTER. There I said it.

{reason for reading} - I had watched the movie and wanted to read the book. ( )

Touching story of Ronnie and Jonah forced to spend a summer with their dad. Ronnie finds herself, falls in love and stays on to care for her terminal father.

My first romance book. Not amazing, but simple, bittersweet, and short. Will not read another Nicholas Sparks book though...curious about the movie now. ( )

Typically Sparksian: an engaging if heavily telegraphed stew of romance, betrayal, and youthful discovery, garnished with a healthy dollop of Christianity.
