I'm so sad I've only got one left in the series to read... ( ) 3.5/5*** Argh!! So, I got this book lent to me through lendle (thanks!), because frankly the last book just pissed me off. Now, there are a lot of books that when they piss me off I set them aside and I'm done. Do not pass go, do not collect $500. You know who you are Anita! This series just gave me so much enjoyment and so much pleasure that I couldn't do that. In the last book Seth cheated on his then girlfriend Maddie with un-succubus Georgina. This is after breaking up with succubus Georgina by dating someone else. Can you say douche? Here's the thing, I didn't think I would like Seth. I may like nice boys in real life but in my fiction I like 'em carrying guns, shooting the zombies and howling at the moon. Seth writes books and gets nervous in front of crowds. He's my dream real boy. My dream fiction boy would shoot said crowd and only reads Guns and Ammo. 'Nough said. After all that, I really did like Seth, but the unsexiest, unsexy thing in the world for me is cheating. Let's just say I have personal hang ups with cheaters, may they all rot. On top of it, Georgina who was supposed to love Seth soooo much, is the one that damned him. In a way I get it. Here's this girl stuck having sex with random men she doesn't like or hates, and here's the one she wants to be with. That's a lot of pressure to fight off. Still, the cheating!!! So, I waited MONTHS to get this book through lendle. I started it with excitement/trepidation and within pages was pissed. Georgina refers to "dating" Seth twice. Um, honey you helped him cheat on his girlfriend, now fiance. That ain't datin' in my neck of the woods. Well it is, but we're redneck hicks, so ya' know... Finally the truth comes out and I chill out a little. Still lots of angst. Then the real plot develops. Georgina is getting called by some freaky, supernatural thing. Didn't we do that last book? Turns out we did! Nyx ain't back but her kids are! And silly Georgina goes trotting to them. Most of this book is spent with Georgina having no interaction with the other characters, only able to see what is shown to her. Some of that is her friends in the current time searching for her. Some of what she sees is false. Some of what she see is the past. Really, it was a little much for me and I did some speed reading. I'll sum it up for you. Georgina likes to repeatedly fall in love with good guys (just like Seth, hmm....) and then terrible things happen because of this. We have seen this repeated in memory after memory, in book after book. Yes, dear author, we get it. Georgina's love life sucks and she can not have the ones she wants! There is development though. Georgina's contract comes into the light again. Somethings fishy, as we've all been guessing. Simone the succubus is in town trying to flirt Seth away. Why? Sketchy! *nudge-nudge, wink-wink* Whatever could this have to do with Seth? If you don't see it you won't get it from me, but it is admittedly my weakness when it comes to romance. Sigh. When it finally comes time to rescue Georgina the truth starts to come out. Deaths occur, much angsting. And we move forward, Seth and Georgina style. In the end I love them and all their fated love-stuff. Yes, I called it love-stuff. This is how crazy this is making me. Much better than the last book for me simply because Seth didn't cheat! The re-hashing of the past, same story, new face/town, got old for me, but it was well spread out between the modern day events. I get it Richelle! I see your foreshadowing! Stop beating me with it, I promise I'll be good! I officially must read the last book so I can get a HEA. Plus I love omniscient Carter who is trying so hard for his miracle! So, so hard! If we could give Carter a love without turning him into a demon, please? No? Damn, I'll just love him from afar. What about Roman? Can I buy Roman a girl? And Cody! Cody wuvs the wannabe vamp-girl! Adorable! Now, I have to go stare at the kindle page for book 6, then stare at my gift cards, then stare at the kindle page. Repeat. Do I buy it? Do I trust Ms. Mead to not pull an AB and piss me off at the very end? I just don't know! Stay tuned, all you who just don't care about my after midnight rant/review craziness! aucune critique | ajouter une critique
