It held my attention from the beginning until the end. Kidnapping, secrets from the past, family and faith in God are all woven together to bring readers a great story. The characters are realistic and relatable as the author portrays their strengths and their weaknesses. Readers who enjoy the medical romance genre will not want to miss A Killing Frost. I read a complimentary copy of the book from GoodReads and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own. ( ) A suspenseful, fast-paced, intelligent medical drama with a layer of romance. The main characters work through the bumps in their relationship all while dealing with family crises, trauma in the community, and trailing a serial killer who kidnapped a young niece. There's a lot going on in this 48 hour drama, but the authors seem to make it all work out in the end, dropping clues to a past mystery. I loved the intrepid, smart young Doriann, and her parts in the story had me rooting for her. The dog Humphrey was a perfect side hero too. Doriann's honest prayers were priceless. There are some mentions of faith here and there, but fairly light. A bit of a plot twist in the end made it even better. Easy to read as a stand alone, though part of a series. Recommend! 4.5 stars (An ebook was given as part of a Goodreads giveaway. All opinions expressed are my own.) If you have read the "Christy Award-winning Hideaway" series by this husband and wife writing team, then you will want to pick up this story in the "River Dance" series. It was one of those stories I had a hard time putting down, because it kept moving and I wanted to see what would happen next. I liked the way it jumped from the abductors in the story to the folks who would be searching and kept you up to date in what was going on with both sets of characters. It was fast paced, a little scary, and full of characters you will get to know (some you will like and others not). And all 360 pages takes place within about a 24 hour period of time! Dr. Jama Keith has just arrived back in the town she grew up in, as the new doctor at the River Dance clinic. Her one goal is to hopefully not run in to her ex-boyfriend, Tyrell Mercer, but it won't take long before that hope is extinguished. She will first have to take care of Tyrell's Dad in an emergency and then her and Tyrell will be thrown together trying to track and find Tyrell's niece, Doriann, who has been abducted by two of the FBI's most wanted, and headed towards River Dance. Doriann is quite a little lady and has been abducted and even though she is scared silly, she is able to make an escape and the story gets a little tense as you read of her running and her captors always just a few steps behind. There were a few surprises for me in the story, but I always enjoy being surprised. If you want a story that will get the heart pumping faster than normal at times, then pick up this book and be prepared to experience "A Killing Frost". aucune critique | ajouter une critique
