Piggie stumbles across a ball and discovers that it is Gerald's ball. Piggie asks Gerald if she can throw the ball but Gerald is hesitant as asks if she knows the secret to throwing. Piggie says the secret is having fun but Gerald disagrees and says that throwing a ball is not easy. Piggie throws the ball and it ends up going backwards, however, she doesn't realize this and thinks she threw it so far that they can't even see it. Piggie begins to celebrate about how far she threw the ball but Gerald points out that the ball is behind them. Piggie decides there must be only one explanation: that she threw the ball all the way around the world. Gerald points out that that is not true and that Piggie in fact did not throw the ball very far. Piggie agrees but points out that she had fun. “Watch me throw the ball” is a book in the series of Piggie and Elephant similar to other books in the series it's appeal is providing two dynamic protagonists who reflect two opposing personality types. Piggie is the more adventurous while Elephant is more serious, I think is a great dynamic in children’s books and provides the reader with a opportunity to explore different personality types without judgment as both characters are presented equally fair and the dialogue is very sharp and witty. I see how this would appeal to a young audience. Elephant throws the ball and Piggie finds it. Piggie then wants to throw the ball but elephant explains that throwing a ball is difficult and takes practice. Piggie throws the ball anyway and thinks that they threw it around the world when they actually threw it behind himself. Moral of the story that it is not always about best or worst but about having fun. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Connaîtrait-elle déjà le secret d'un bon lancer? Grâce aux bulles de dialogues faciles à repérer et aux répétitions de phrases familières, cet album est l'outil idéal pour les jeunes qui commencent à lire! Gérald is determined to teach Rosie that ball-throwing is a serious business, but Rosie is just as determined to have serious fun. Told entirely in speech bubbles with a repetitive use of familiar phrases, this original book encourages children who are just learning to read. Original title: Watch Me Throw the Ball!
