I believe this was Greer's first attempt to reintroduce the practice of geomancy to the Western occult tradition in an accessible form. He explains that the Order of the Golden Dawn included geomancy in it's system, but that the instruction was not very complete or clear. His most recent book on the subject is _The Art and Practice of Geomancy_ published in 2009 by Weiser. However _Earth Divination_ seems to me to be a good start, with clear illustrations and explanations of two methods of reading a geomantic chart. Greer also gives a brief history of the science and how it relates to astrology. One advantage of geomancy is that it requires very little in the way of equipment. While one may make and consecrate a special sand table and wand, it is possible to do a reading with only pencil and paper, or with a stick and any sandy surface. Greer also includes a section on using the geomantic figures for meditation and skying or in magical operations such as constructing amulets and talismans. He also includes a translation of an original Latin work dating from the Medieval era, "Modo judicandi questiones secundum Petrum de Abano Patavinum." I'm currently in the middle of learning a different system (ogham) but have this on my list of things to try someday. Anyone interested in buying Greers in-print books should go to his blog site, Ecosophia.net, which contains links. ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Here is a complete guide to the lost art of geomancy - one of the major divination systems that are a part of the Western magical tradition. Geomancy is simple, quick, and direct - anyone can get answers to a question in a matter of moments by learning how to read the patterns revealed by the 16 symbolic figures formed of single and double points. During the Middle Ages and Renaissance, geomancy was used by everyone from popes to peasants because it provided practical, useful results. Often mistaken for feng shui or ley lines, or hidden within poorly explained tables and charts, geomancy has become something of a lost art - until now. Earth Divination, Earth Magic provides a fascinating look into the history, theory, and practice of geomancy, including a thorough set of instructions for both casting and interpreting a chart for yourself or a friend.
