When her artist mother dies, Charlotte's life is turned upside down. Before she even has time to deal with her grief, her supposedly dead father appears and they are forced to share her mother's New York apartment to satisfy the terms of her will. It seems even in death, her mother is determined to have the last word. Reluctantly living in Soho with a father she has never met before, Charlotte's begins to change in unexpected ways. Haunted by grief, Charlotte still hears her mother's voice urging her to pull herself together, sit up straight and embrace life. And where before Charlotte was content with her job and making herbal remedies and playing computer games in her spare time. Now she's beginning to take risks, even pursing her hidden desire to take acting class. Will Charlotte survive her mother's legacy, let alone a year with this stranger who wants her to call him 'Dad'?… (plus d'informations)

I loved The Perfect Elizabeth, and immediately after reading it, I added The Essential Charlotte to my wishlist. I don't know I put off reading this for so long....I think I just set it in my towering TBR and forgot about it.I pulled it out earlier this week. What a lovely summer read! Nothing deep here, but great characters and a gentle plot. Glad I finally read this one. ( )
