Robert Shannon, an American priest, suffers severely from shocking events he witnessed in France during World War I. Previously a vibrant, energetic leader and Army chaplain, Robert goes to Ireland to seek his family roots, thinking that in this he will again find his soul. Delaney does such a great job of painting the beauty and serenity of Ireland and has given such caring and hospitable Irish citizens as hosts, I find that I, too, am soothed and renewed just by reading the book. Thank you to Frank Delaney for this wonderful story of healing. Excellant book; fast moving; 1922 Robert Shannon an American chaplain suffers from shell shock from the war. He goes to Ireland to find his family roots along the Shannon River and reunites with a nurse he worked with in the war. |
