Walking the Dog

This quirky little tome reads like an adult fairy tale. Sometimes X-rated, with memorable characters on a memorable island and unusual experiences. This is such a thin book, but the author makes great use of words with sentencing encompassing a wealth of information! I also love the way each chapter ends with 'I think I'll go walk the dog.' This is one of the most unusual books I've ever read and will probably revisit it again later. but for now, 'I think I'll go walk the dog.' ;-) ( )

Walking the Dog was a very pleasant surprise. I wasn't quite sure of what the story would be like before receiving my copy. I started scanning through it and wound up sitting down and reading it straight through. Then, after letting all the strangeness seep into my mind, I read it again. It was even better the second time.
It's virtually impossible to describe the story without giving too much away, I don't care for spoilers, but I'll try.
The characters are typical in most things . . . times 100! They are so larger than life as to be nearly impossible. The Boys, capital B, are usual youngsters with a healthy interest in girls and boobies, while Aunt Dolores is a stereotypical aunt given to running and commenting on everyones life and making sure that Uncle Ken doesn't get what he really wants. Except the lengths she will go are unimaginable in both daring and audacity.

Walking the Dog is a wonderful book that should be read by all and especially given to the depressed. It'll get a laugh out of anyone. ( )

I absoloutely LOVED this book, but then, I like Hiassen, Dorsey, Evanovich and Charles Davis goes WAY beyond anything the aforementioned have ever written...This literary spoof on how absurd life can be is brought forth in imaginative detail.

If you like a strongyl plotted book, this one is not really gonna be your cup of tea, but if you like Firesign Theater with a little bit of Dr. Demento thrown in...then you're in your element with this one. The prose is literate and the humour is outrageous! A grand and epic waltz into the surreal and antically funny. ( )

I had a hard time sticking with this one. I found the short stories somewhat funny and interesting. I got the impression that the author was striving to put together long, complex sentences with tricky vocabulary. Perhaps the stories were designed to be deep thinking as well as humorous, while I was looking for light and funny. I tend to read for relaxation and found that the language used didn't lend to that end for me. I did very much enjoy some of the character names. ( )

A book of short, related stories with an interesting cast of characters in often amusing situations . A delightful read from start to finish. ( )
