Fantasy. Fiction. HTML:Georgina Kincaid has been a bad, bad succubus. . .

. . .which should be a good thing. But lately, thanks to her foul mood over breaking up with bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, she's been so wicked that Seattle's über-demon Jerome, decides to "outsource" Georgina to a rival--and have her spy for him in the process.

Being exiled to the frozen north--okay, Vancouver--and leaving Seth in the cozy clutches of his new girlfriend is unpleasant enough. Then Jerome is kidnapped, and all immortals under his control mysteriously lose their powers. One bright spot: with her life-sucking ability gone, there's nothing to keep Georgina from getting down and dirty with Seth--nothing apart from his girlfriend that is. Now, as the supernatural population starts turning on itself, a newly mortal Georgina must rescue her boss and figure out who's been playing them--or all hell will break loose. . .

This is the fourth in Richelle Mead's Succubus series, and I really enjoy it. I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it to the teens who read her Vampire Academy books, but I imagine it's on the radar of the more enterprising teen fans of hers anyway.
Racy they are, as the titles would imply, but that's really just one aspect of the hidden supernatural world of Seattle that Mead has created. The books have a lot of imagination, humor and characters to get hooked on.
I do think I'm done with the Seth angst, but I'm worried that Mead isn't.
I also think Maddie's the least believable of the characters, a little too good to be true, and while I believe there are feminists out there who, like many women, have confidence issues, Maddie not only has those but seems to rely way too heavily on what Georgina advises. You'd think a freelance feminist writer would think for herself a bit more than Maddie does.
That aside, I will keep reading and hope the mysterious comments of Carter and the prophetic dreams of Nyx will come to light in the next installment or two. ( )

Poor Georgina. Thanks to her moping over losing Seth, she's been sent to Canada to deal with an annoying cult run by the "Angel of Darkness" by her boss Jerome. Before she knows it she's in trouble not only with her own boss, but the boss demon in Canada as well, thanks to her less than stellar control of the cult. Then Jerome goes MIA and Georgina and all her friends find themselves without their abilities. The vampires are loving their day in the sun but Georgina is dealing with a limited wardrobe and frizzy hair, while Hugh is struggling to deal with not being able to detect the souls of those around him.

With the help of her new boyfriend, black magician Dante, ex-boyfriend Seth and the rest of the crew she goes looking for Jerome. After all, the devil you know is better than the devil you don't. Now that Georgina is no longer in danger of sucking Seth's soul out during sex though, there's all that tension and angst multiplied back up when it comes to him. In the mean time she's got Maddie, Seth's current girlfriend playing the part of her BFF and adding even more angst.

I didn't love this one quite as much as the others. Georgina is enjoyable in part because despite the sex-with-strangers issue she's actually an incredibly moral character. In this book Georgina is full of bitterness. Plus side - yay, this character has emotion and she can be bitchy and unhappy and still mostly likeable! Down side - some of the the things Georgina pulls in this book made me really unhappy for her and those it involved. I know it had to happen, and the author definitely gives her the proper punishment in the end, but man it's harsh! I'm not going to lie - I'm taking a break after this book before I come back to it. This is a bit more angst-y than the previous books so I'll be back after a little breathing room.

The bad guy was as usual predictable by 1/2 way through the book, but not a give away by any means. There's a re-appearance of an old character which should bring in some fun so that I can't wait for! Of course can't wait to read the next book, after a short break. ( )

The Georgina Kincaid series had gotten hard for me to read, because i was so gun ho over Georgina and Seth them breaking up made me biased on the books. Well in this one it was easy to get into because Georgina and Seth had another chance, granted it was temporary but still it was awesome. And this was all possible because Jerome, her john cusack hottie looking boss went missing, and when he went missing all his charges abilities went POOF. The vampires got to play in the sun, and Georgina could touch a guy without sucking out his life force. But Georgina being Georgina, couldnt sit back and let Jerome go, or risk being the charge of another higher demon, so she went and searched for jerome. this book is all about hidden lusts uncovered and tried, deceptions all over the place, and maybe some new formed alliances. Succubus Heat was excellent. I think that Georgina is a very complex character. Even though she is works for Hell, she has a good heart. Most of the things she does, she does out of kindness. However, we see a selfish side to her in this book, but a lot that happens is bittersweet. I had reservations when I read the blurb, but the execution of the story was perfect. The author pulled out a lot of different emotions as I was reading this. This is a wonderful series and I feel a connection with each of the characters. I look forward to reading the next one. ( )

I am so mad at this author. I don't think I can wait until 2010 for the next one. Man - cut Seth a break. ( )
