Scored this at a thrift store in Nashville. Total BS of course. If it was about 100 pages shorter I would have given it 3 stars. ( )

The Amityville Horrow by John G Jones is based on the true story of George and Kathleen Lutz. This thriller book keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Knowing that it is a true story and why the strange events happen in the book always send a chill down your spine.
This true story in based on the 1974 murders of the DeFeo family. Six members of the DeFeo family were shot and killed execution style in their family home of 112 Ocean Avenue. The killings were done by their eldest son and brother of the family. Now, the book isn’t just about the DeFeo’s murders is about a young family called the Lutz’s whom move into the 112 Ocean Avenue home after the murders. The family were told before buying the house of family murders, but this didn’t bother the Lutz family, so they brought the house anyway. George and Kathleen Lutz have three beautiful children, one girl and two boys. The family were so excited and happy about their new big home. Moving day was when the strange events began, straightaway unusual things started to happen around the house. These bizarre dealings included presences, shadows, smells, discolouring of the toilet bowl, thousands of flies in one room and the one thing that was constantly bugging George Lutz was the cold. From the day George moved into his house he became fixated on why the house always seemed cold and how to keep the fire ragging. It wasn’t only the family members experiencing strange things; the family dog also wasn’t began not to be himself. Normally a guard dog at his old home, but the dog at his new home had become extremely quiet and not heard of much. These strange and unusual events occurred every night, and more than once a day. Till the Lutz family could not handle it anymore. They moved out, sold up, and got away from 112 Ocean Avenue as quickly as they could.
This book is extremely engaging, and draws you in the moment you read the first paragraph. Jones creates a chill and mystery to the story, and you find it hard to put the book down. You keep wanting to know what strange event will happen next. The genre of book is definitely thriller and mystery. It constantly keeps you gasping about what ghostly thing will happen next. It also makes the reader think about whether they themselves believe in ghosts or super-natural events.
I recommend this book to readers above the age 13 and who have a love for thriller books that make you question whether there is something out there after you die. The book can be quite scary not only for themes but also knowing the factor that it is based on a true story.
I encourage people to read The Amityville Horror by John G Jones. It is an extraordinary book with lots of detail and spine chilling chapters. Please go out and ready it!
