I've read some other things in this world that were written later, and liked them, so I thought I'd give this a shot. It was not bad, but not great either, and I really didn't like the force-her-and-make-her-like-it scene. It really shows as a book where she's getting to know the world and the rules she's setting, and the characters are a bit inconsistent. I will read more in the series, but maybe I'll stick to the later books. Tempting the Beast 3 Stars Callan Lyons, a human-lion hybrid, is on the run from the powerful Genetics Council behind his creation, which now seeks to destroy him. Merinus Tyler is a journalist set on proving herself to her overprotective family by exposing the council and bringing Callan to safety. These two fiercely independent people clash in an extreme battle of wills compounded by a brutal chemistry that binds them together in a “mating frenzy”. A relatively realistic and intriguing premise of humans genetically engineered with animal DNA. It would have been interesting to have more details about the scientific processes involved and the people behind the project. As this is the first book in the series, these details may still be forthcoming. Merinus is an intelligent, confident and stubborn heroine who refuses to give in to Callan’s dominance, which can be overbearing at times. They have steamy physical chemistry but I was disappointed in the lack of an emotional connection. The secondary characters are also compelling, especially Kane (Merinus’s domineering older brother) and Sherra, whose story I look forward to reading. Overall, I would have preferred more plot development and characterization. The sex scenes become a little excessive. That said, the book is worth reading if only as exposition for the later books in the series. Note: the cover art of the book is very appealing and what drew me to the book in the first place. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
-- Callan Lyons wanted only to be left in peace to protect the small group of Breeds he rescued from a New Mexico lab, but those that created them refuse to stop their continued attempts to re-capture them. And the owner of a small, reputable paper, once a friend of his birth mother's, now has proof of his existence. Proof that has caught his daughter, Merinus Tyler's's fascination and ensured her determination to find him. But once they touch, they'll become far more than either ever imagined possible.Man created them, but nature has made them her own. Beginning with Callan, she'll show the world the folly of playing with the very building blocks of all she protects. And Merinus will learn the folly of tempting the beast Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
