It's interesting to read Secret Seven titles now and to realise how much more their lives are constrained by adults than the lives of the Famous Five, where adults seem so much more of an optional extra. It's also interesting to finally reach the titles I've never read before - even if there were five pages missing right at the crucial point! The difference in attitudes is much more obvious to me now of course - strange to think that once upon a time it would never even have struck me as odd that the girls get left out of nearly everything, that Peter is overbearing or that all the children come from privileged backgrounds. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

In this one, the children investigate intriguing goings-on in a supposedly empty house. Simple and straightforward story, in the same style as the others in the series. In this case, the surprise is the motivation that the suspects turn out to have, which is different from the usual thieves that serve as the bad guys in this series. ( )
