Middle age woman rents home to young girls. Appears to be a sweet caring nurse, but looks are deceiving. Creepy ending Characters unlikeable. ( )

Wow. What a great ending. Did not expect that at all. Didn't see that one coming. Must go to the library to see if they have more Joy Fielding's books. I loved her fictional books too. Grand Avenue comes to mind. ( )

The plot is interesting, but grows unorganized and out of control at the end. The dream imagery I can do without. Not sure why the protagonist's dreams are important, but they seem to be in most of Fielding's books. In one specific part of the story, the protagonist has a flashback, but it's so poorly constructed you're not sure if its the present or the past they are talking about. The story is imaginative and entertaining, but poorly put together in parts. ( )

Bei Joy Fielding erwarte ich mir keine realistische Handlung. Irgendwie sind es immer lang verschollene Freundinnen oder Angehörige, die plötzlich auftauchen. In diesem Buch zieht eine junge Frau bei der Krankenschwester Terry ein. Terry mag Alison sehr, doch sie hegt mehr und mehr den Verdacht, dass Alison ihr etwas vormacht und in Wirklichkeit nicht durch Zufall bei ihr aufgetaucht ist. Subtil angedeutet wird das nicht, im Gegenteil, das wird ganz klar ausgesprochen. Das macht das Buch aber extrem spannend.
Das Ende ist dann sehr aprupt. Es ist ein guter Twist und kommt unerwartet, ist aus meiner Sicht aber eigentlich zu wenig durch die Geschichte vorbereitet.
Fazit: Unterschwellige Spannung - unerwartetes Ende. ( )

Only a few of the characters are likable and there are a lot of sexual references. Some of them are just bizarre like the one about crevices and the ocean. Also, the author threw in page after page of pointless conversations between characters. Possibly to make the book longer. It's a disaster.

The one positive thing I have to say is that it's a very fast read. At least I didn't waste more than a couple days on this garbage. ( )
