Two dudes walk into a bookstore... Tristan knows he's got issues. His latest ex-girlfriend knows it too. He can't blame her for dumping him-even though she gets her brother to do it for her. Since he can't stop staring at said brother's package, he figures it's about time to put a label on those issues. He likes guys. He heads to a local bookstore with what he's sure is a foolproof plan to find someone to show him what he's been missing. But who should crash his little adventure? Officer Michael Truax, who gave him a really expensive ticket back in high school for skateboarding without a helmet. Michael has been trying to catch Tristan for years...to give him a second ticket. Suddenly faced with "Sparky," all grown up and looking to get laid, Michael's protective instinct kicks in-and presents him with an opportunity that's hard to resist. After all, the kid must know what he's getting into, so why not? But when a man with a plan connects with a man with a hunger, the result is nothing short of explosive. This book has been previously published. Warning: Contains high-octane hair, a clawfoot bathtub, and a story that will make you believe in love at first sight. Okay, second sight, but who's counting?… (plus d'informations)

Frankly, I'm a bit shocked by how much I disliked the 20% of this book I was able to get through, considering this is a book so many GR reviewers loved.
DNF REASONS:
1. Random POV jumps make my blood boil.
2. At 20% the MCs jumped ALL in, and I do mean ALL IN. In 24 hours sweet little Tristan popped all his gay cherries. Topped, bottomed, sucked, blown, you name it.. A bit much.
3. Still at 20%, readers are still in the dark about the age of Michael. So far we only know he's a cop and he's older. We know Tristan is 19, we know Michael has wanted him (and watched him) for a few years. Yeah, I wasn't creeped out by this at all...not. I finally searched ahead and found out Michael was 27 but by then it was too late. The whole "relationship" just did not work for me.

At first I thought it would be a nice read and that’s it. But as soon as the two main characters met each other (again) and the banter started, I was hooked. Seriously, it’s so much fun. I really liked how they clicked but it was not happily ever after. They had problems, they were hurt and a lt of people tried to tell them what he right thing was.

I haven’t read anything by Z. A. Maxfield before but this will change. That woman can write, may it be flirting, sexy times, drama, you name it.

I got the e-copy as an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. Thank you. ( )

I didn't know what to expect going into this one. From the cover I expected a really young guy and a really older man and a kind of skeezy hookup. What I got was a coming of age story, and a brilliantly written romance. Tristan had been sleeping with just about every female he could since he was 14, but the day his girlfriend dumps him (via her own brother) all Tristan can think about is the brother. He comes up with a plan to hook up with a guy, to find out if he was gay or not. He comes up with a plan to hook up with a guy, to find out if he really is gay or not. Plans change though, when he ends up with the last man he expects, and falls head over heels in love.

Based on the first few pages of this book, I expected Tristan to be a bit of a punk, someone I tolerated. Boy was I wrong. This guy was truly an old soul. He gave up Stanford and Georgetown to stay home and help out his mom after his dad died. He doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, and is basically the best kid you could ever hope to have- the kind of boy moms everywhere dream about having. I thoroughly enjoyed his relationship with Michael, watching them both come to love and trust each other. I loved Tristan's mother, who, while shocked, is totally supportive.

This book was sweet, romantic and also FUNNY. Some of the best lines I've ever read were in this book, along with probably the best Thanksgiving scenes I've ever read in any book. If tofu turkey is called tofurkey, what does that make tofu duck? ( )

4,5 stars. Nice romance and extra points for the MC Tristan aka Sparky - he is just adorable. It is not an unconventional or especially original story, but a very nice read, well written, with some humour in it and more or less nothing bad to say about it. It won't make its way on the faves shelf, but was entertaining. ( )

I've read a lot of ZA Maxfield and will read a lot more, but this isn't my favorite. I really like how they meet, and the texting. I liked the fun stuff. But I found the second half melodramatic and was frankly found it unbelievable that they would really have a long term HEA. It's not that I don't want them to be together, but 19 is really young to meet someone and stick with them, and I wouldn't have minded if they had time together and moved on. The 10 year age gap at that particular juncture really did worry me, and making Michael both a cop and financially independent was too much for me, he was just too perfect. So I had some problems with this book, but I do love Maxfield and will eventually read everything she's written and will obviously like some more than others... ( )

For Marri, who slid over one seat during The Rocky Horror Picture Show (so we could talk) twenty-five years ago, and has been right beside me ever since.

It seemed unimaginably sudden when Tristan decided this was the last day he’d look at some guy out of the corner of his eye and think, maybe, yeah, that would be so…damn.
