The Earl of Moriston's secretary Francis Mervyn has been seeing a demi-rep by the name of Imogen Reece. Unfortunately for Mervyn she has been found dead, and her friend Miss Katherine Kenwood has employed Bow Street runner Townsend to investigate. Moriston must determine who the killer is before Townsend arrests Mervyn.
An enjoyable Regency mystery with a hint of romance, with likable characters. Unfortunately I believe there are only two in the series.

Following from the previous title, Lord Moriston is drawn into a murder investigation by Townsend, the Bow Street Runner. A demi-rep has been found bludgeoned to death, and the main suspect is Lord Moriston's secretary, Francis Mervyn. Lord Moriston takes on the case, and meets his match in the singer/actress, Miss Kenwood - who has hired Townend to investigate the murder - the victim being a friend of hers.

In the course of the investigation, Lord Moriston falls deeply in love with Miss Kenwood - despite her being on the stage.

Recommended. Sadly, these were the only mysteries Reay Tannahill wrote; I would have loved to have seen more.
