His hard-pressed crew labored on the flat-rate schedule of a dollar and a half a day each, irrespective Of the number of bolts banged through the boiler plates. It was the opinion and belief of his underlings that Mr. Cabot was so morbidly intent on amassing wealth that he had schooled himself assiduously to abstain from Visiting the foundry latrine - so as not to miss out on an extra rivet or two.
