I enjoyed this book despite it's flaws. The heroine has a tendency to act in a too stupid to live manner. The hero can't get over his jealousy. But when they are sweet to one another, it's a beautiful story. I likely would not read again.

What started out as a slow typical romance quickly turned into a fantastic paranormal historical romance. The heroine is thrust back in time and into the very unwilling arms of the hero. He's surly, gruff and without the patience to deal with her as he's urgent to repair his keep. The story really picked up once they arrive at the castle when the two characters go from strangers bound together by chance to a reluctant friendship. The hero is tortured by his abusive childhood and as a result he's very self conscious and unable to properly express his feelings. He never smiles, doesn't know how to be kind but despite this, he's so sweet. Though he's argumentative and brisk, he goes out of his way to make the heroine happy. The heroine just wants to go home. She's often stealing his horse and running away, making the hero track her down and drag her back. But soon she finds herself drawn to him. She sees inside of him and is willing to wait patiently for him to open up to her. I loved this book because it was about real people. The heroine is attacked and as she's recovering, she had to wear a make shift diaper. This is a very simple thing but very rarely do authors pen about it. But Kurland allows the heroine to cry and show utter embarrassment because it allows the hero a chance to comfort her and to grow closer to her. One thing about this book, however, was the fact that it's PG. Absolutely nothing is written about sexual except kisses. Mind you, with the chemistry between the characters, it was hot, but I felt cheated somehow when I wasn't able to experience that natural joining. That being said, I loved this story. It's so much more than a time travel, it's so much more than a cheesy period romance. It's about two lost souls finding each other in the darkness. Lovely. ( )

I was a bit surprised to learn this wasn’t Lynn Kurland’s first book. It reads like a first book — it’s safe.

The More I See You is a time-traveling romance. In this one, Jessica Blakely wishes on a star for a chivalrous man, only to find herself standing in a field with a medieval hunt bearing down on her. The man who saves her is Richard De Galtres. His chivalry is of the rusty sort, but he definitely fits the bill. So she sticks around. There you go. That’s the plot.

Some details were cute. I liked Richard when he was getting frustrated; he was very sweet. He picks up some of Jessica’s modern language; also cute. Whenever he mentions Horse (his horse) being ruined by Jessica’s coddling, it’s funny. So there’s that.

But it was all a bit thin and unrealistic. (I shouldn’t say unrealistic when I’m talking about time travel, but I’m going to anyway.) Jessica wears men’s clothing and nobody bats an eye. From the start, she sleeps in Richard’s bed chamber with him and not a single person is upset by it. The most pushback she gets is by taking over the construction of Richard’s new hall and even that’s overcome swiftly. I didn’t see a lot of realism there. Kurland’s medieval world is far nicer than the one in my head. Plus, Jessica adjusts to her new life incredibly fast. No concerns about tampons or toothbrushes are ever expressed. And turns out Richard likes to bathe daily — what luck.

This is your basic romance novel. It’s not a book I’d gushingly recommend to fellow readers, but if you like Lynn Kurland (She’s known for not having explicit sex scenes — and, boy, is that reputation earned. This book is TAME.) you’ll find some enjoyable things here. It’s certainly not going to ruin you day to read this.

High praise indeed. ( )

This is the book that introduced me to the genius that is Lynn Kurland and the time travel genre of romance. After reading this book, I realized that this is the genre that I want to write for.
Jessica is a American girl, that gets talked into going on a date to a castle party. After relaxing with a bit of chocolate and some great music, she wakes up to realize that not only is she in a different place, but a different time.
Both of the characters are wonderfully believable and endearing. Jessica is so spunky and cute that I just adored her! And the ending is truly sweet.
It's truly hard to give a good review for this one without giving too much away. Still to this day one of my favorite books. ( )

I have you fast in my fortress,
And will not let you depart,
But put you down into the dungeon
In the round-tower of my heart.

And there will I keep you forever,
Yes, forever and a day,
Till the walls should crumble to ruin,
And moulder in the dust away!
