Amazing Grace is a contemporary crime drama romance about the Sheriff of Hell, Texas (am pretty sure it's not a real place) called Grace O'Malley and a Texas Ranger undercover as a biologist, Max Riddell, who is investigating Grace for suspicion of aiding smugglers into the country. The novel started when Max was accidentally involved in a brawl and Sherif Grace came to arrest both him and the troublemaker. Max began to get to know Grace and she began to have feelings for him and so does he even if his job is in line. But more and more people started to get in serious hurt and Grace being in the center of it all. This is a long overdue ARC because I found out it was once published and had some misgivings about it especially with the genre. The writing is quite fine for a contemporary novel. I love the female character being a strong hearted girl with some moments of weakness to a guy and stray animals. She actually had to free Max from prisons and several troubles which is quite funny. There's some quirks in her characterization which made her story more interesting until the conventional bed scenes. I'd admit, I skipped the sex scenes because the predictability and repetitive of it. I like the conflict at the end which are intense and convincing as with the plot progressions. However, Max is quite a character I never get into. He seemed to have a hard time making up his mind about everything and his predictable involvement with his assignment and his backstory is very archetypal male pulp romance character. Plus, the cover itself seem meh. I never see the idea in covers of a guy with their arms up. Is he smelling his arms? and it does look disproportionate with the arm length and head from the bad photoshop. It's quite a good book but its nothing remarkable about it except noting that the female protagonist is quite a remarkable girl. The writer did actually say Grace is quite a plain girl but attractive, loyal and independent. Even if she remain a virgin for a right guy but she didn't simper and stuff. I like reading more characters like her. But she would do well in PNR than in contemporary romance fiction. The NetGalley ARC is a reissued novel from Bell Bridge Books and is published on 18th May 2012. I received a free review copy of this book from Netgalley. This and other reviews can be found on my blog (un)Conventional Bookviews. Gracie is the small town Sheriff in Hell, and her first meeting with Max is quite different from other meetings because she has to arrest him for disorderly conduct. Name: Amazing Grace Publisher: Bell Bridge Books Author: Eve Gaddy Publication Date: 5/18/12 Completed Date: 7/10/12 Reviewed by: Kathy Brandt Review: Grace is the sheriff in Hell, Texas, and is one proud and solid woman, not a looker, or so she thinks. Grace has a deputy that was faithful to her father, who died and who also was the past sheriff. But was the deputy really faithful? Grace has to dig deep to find the real truth. Along come Max, a sexy cowboy, claiming to be an EPA agent, but he just doesn't fit the bill. Who is he? What is he here to accomplish? Is he available? For the first time in her life Grace wants to get involved with a man, at 31 years of age. How will it turn out? I enjoyed reading this book...it went fast and there was a lot of action. I received this book free from the publisher for this review. I was not required to write a positive review. These opinions about this book are my own. Blog post: http://kathysscraps.blogspot.com/2012/07/book-review-amazing-grace.html Sunday, May 20, 2012Review: Amazing Grace by Eve Gaddy 3 STARS I liked Amazing Grace. It had laughter, too much sex scenes, Texas Ranger undercover as EPA agent. Female Sheriff, smuggling ring, and dog fighting. Lots of action was happening in a short fast read. Max Ridell was new in Hell, Texas and already in a brawl. The Sheriff Grace O'Malley arrested him and Jim Bob who started the fight. Max is a Texas Ranger working undercover as a EPA agent because they recieved a tip that someone in the Sheriff Office was involved in the smuggling of asian and other countries from middle east across the Texas border. Grace became the Sheriff after her father died as Sheriff. Before he died he was being investigated for taking bribes. Grace also takes care of a lot of stray animals that people don't want. Max keeps getting in trouble and has to fight his temper. He hates looking like he needs rescuing in front of Grace. Max is drawn to Grace but tries to fight it because she is part of his investigation. I like Max and Grace and the town of Hell, Texas population 892. I was given this ebook to read in exchange for honest review from Netgalley. 05/18/2012 PUB Bell Bridge Books aucune critique | ajouter une critique

It's a match made in Heaven with the Sheriff from Hell--Hell, Texas, that is. Grace O'Malley is the sheriff of Bandido County in southwest Texas. Posing as an EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) investigator, Max Ridell is an undercover Texas Ranger, looking to bust an illegal-alien smuggling ring, and the Sheriff's office is high on the list of suspects. Max can't reconcile the honest, hardworking Grace with a smuggler of illegal aliens, nor can he ignore his immediate attraction to her. As for Grace, she can't seem to fit the sexy Max into the role of a nerdy, EPA agent. That doesn't keep her for falling for him, a man who doesn't believe in love. He's been down that road before and knows it never works out. When the truth about Max's real reason for being in Hell comes out, Grace feels hurt and betrayed. Still, they must work together to bust the smuggling ring, without either of them getting killed Can she forgive him for lying to her? And if so, can she make him see that what they have can last a lifetime? Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
